Q & A
After we clear your space, you may wonder what happens to all of the items we removed. In short, we dispose of, recycle or donate everything that enters our truck. Here is how we do that:
Sorting
After we have hand loaded everything in our truck and driven away, we sort through the items based on type, always being sure to separate them as they are loaded into the truck. We organize our removal loads into three categories: trash, recycle, or hazardous materials.
Recycling
Items that are able to be recycled are separated from the garbage and taken to a recycle center or scrapyard to be properly recycled. These items would include metals, cardboard, and some plastic and glass.
Hazardous Waste
When we remove hazardous waste such as fluorescent lightbulbs, paints, or oil, it has to be taken to a special hazardous waste facility to be disposed of safely. Some paints, depending on the type, have to be taken to specific locations to be recycled.
Donation process
Items we can take for donation can vary greatly and often we would have to make an in person assessment in order to determine what can be donated and what has to be junked. However, due to the uncertain aspects of donation, we bid our donations loads the same as if it were a junk load to be removed.
Items we can't donate include heavily used or damaged items, most furniture (including mattresses), and mixed loads of garbage and donation items (unless they can be separated).
Waste dumping process
The items left behind after our sorting that can only be disposed of as trash are taken to a waste facility, such as a transfer station or dump. Once there, the items are weighed and assessed for cost before we unload and separate accordingly.
In conclusion, it can be a long process to remove and dispose of unwanted junk items from your home or business. Don't go through the hassle of trying to handle it all yourself. If you need a hand, call Clear Space Junk Removal, and we can handle all the rest.
